Marena R. Diaz

Since joining Chico & Nunes in 2026, Ms. Diaz has focused her practice on litigation matters, representing engineering, construction, and healthcare-related clients in a diverse array of claims. She also has experience advising her clients on navigating compliance in regulatory matters involving state and local government agencies, including charter schools and small to mid-size businesses.

Before joining the firm, Ms. Diaz represented clients in general commercial litigation, advised healthcare licensees and applicants in professional licensing matters before the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation and counseled clients on licensing and disciplinary investigation procedures, as well as navigating subsequent reporting requirements for state and federal agencies. She has handled Medicare/Medicaid fraud, waste, and abuse audits and investigations. As part of her diverse background, she also has extensive experience representing clients in employment disputes, personal injury cases, administrative appeals, and guardianship matters.

Over the years, Ms. Diaz has been an active member of the Chicago Bar Association’s Media and Entertainment Law Committee. She received her J.D from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where she contributed to the Journal of Regulatory Compliance, and served as President and Vice-President of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society. Before attending law school, she earned a B.A. in Media Studies from Pennsylvania State University.
